Blair County Big Brothers Big Sisters

Changing perspectives. Changing lives.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Blair County seeks to change the lives of children facing adversity for the better, forever. We operate in Blair and Huntingdon Counties. Our mentors work with children in the community, in their schools and many places in between.

Our unique brand of one-to-one mentoring, in which a child facing adversity is carefully matched with a caring adult mentor in a relationship supported by professional Big Brothers Big Sisters of Blair County staff members, changes lives for the better forever.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Blair County seeks to change the lives of children facing adversity between 6 and 18 years of age. Our network of volunteers, donors and supporters comes from all walks of life, all backgrounds, all corners of the country.

Our History

In 1964, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Blair County was founded as Big Brothers of Blair County, Inc., created to provide positive adult mentors for boys in the community. In 1982, the program expanded to include mentoring opportunities for girls, officially establishing Big Brothers Big Sisters of Blair County, Inc.

Today, the agency operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by a local Board of Directors while adhering to the national standards and best practices established by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, along with affiliates across the country.

Our vision is that all children achieve success in life. Our mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
